DAILY DOZEN: EDWIN NEWMAN

Tonight I would like to pay tribute to a man, who along with David Brinkley, Chet Huntley and Walter Cronkite, first made me pay attention to news. He was Edwin Newman. Mr. Newman passed away on August 13 but the announcement of his death was delayed until today. He was 91.

It seems that Mr. Newman brought every major story of my youth to me and gave me a great appreciation for news and journalism. He certainly was part of the reason why I aspired to be the editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper.

Thanks for those great memories and rest in peace Edwin.
